Country Coordinating Mechanism of Sri Lanka (CCMSL) has announced the “Election to select Civil Society Organizations Members for the New Term 2025/28”. The election will be conducted for the selection of members for the constituencies of Non -Governmental Organizations (5 seats) and for the People Living with Disease -Tuberculosis (1 seat). The other constituencies such as Academia, Private Sector, People Living with Disease -HIV, Key Populations 1 (representing men having sex with men, sex workers, transgender individuals and people who Inject drugs) had been selected uncontested and comprised of 1 seat each.
There were no eligible candidates for the constituencies of Key Populations 2 (representing youth, refugees and migrants, women and girls, adolescents, tourism service providers, prisoners, orphans, vulnerable children and populations of humanitarian concerns) and Faith Based Organizations as per the Election Guidelines adopted which stressed the legal registration of the organizations although there were applicants who are active in those fields.
