Key Populations Task Force Meeting was held on 23rd August 2024 from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon at the NPTCCD Auditorium  

Key Populations Task Force Meeting (KPTF) The Key Populations Task Force Meeting was held from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm on 23rd of August 2024 at the Auditorium of the National Program for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases of the Ministry of Health. Twenty one out of thirty-three members participated at the meeting which was chaired by Mr H. A. Laxman Executive Director of Community Strength Development Foundation (CSDF).
The nature of the organizations represented at the KPTF is as follows. 1. Key Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) who are working for HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis in different districts of Sri Lanka. 2. Organizations representing the People Living With HIV/AIDS 3. Organizations working for outbound migrants 4. Organizations working for prevention and rehabilitation drug users 5. Organizations working for health improvements
The following organizations participated at the KPTF as observers. 1. National Program for AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases Prevention (NSACP) 2. National Progrma for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases (NPTCCD) 3. Family Planning Association (FPA), Local Funding Agency (LFA) 4. Sustainability of HIV Services for Key Populations in South-East Asia (SKPA)-2
The Secretariat of Country Coordinating Mechanism Sri Lanka coordinated the conduct of the meeting. The diseases status, prevention and control measures which are being implemented and the important issues that the key population groups are facing in implementing the prevention activities were discussed. Capacity building of organizations who are working for the key populations and requirement of getting the registration of these organizations at the National Non-Governmental Organizations Secretariat are two of the main points discussed in respect of SKPA 2.
This is one of the regular activities of which CCMSL is conducting once in three months with the objective in developing the capacity of Key Populations together with monitor and evaluate the performances of the organizations who are working for the key populations.
