Oversight Visit highlights strong practices and future actions in Kandy health facilities.

The Oversight Visit scheduled for 27–28 November 2025 was successfully conducted on 27 November despite adverse weather conditions. The team, comprising CSO members and CCM Secretariat staff, visited Teaching Hospital Peradeniya, the District STD Clinic Kandy, and the Red Cross Society Implementation Center in Panideniya.

Highlights of the visit include commendable practices at TH Peradeniya such as systematic incident reporting, timely maintenance of the incinerator, and submission of emission reports to the CEA. At the same time, the team identified future actions needed at TH Peradeniya, including renewal of environmental licenses, removal of trees posing risks to the incinerator, and procurement of fire extinguishers with operator training.

The District STD Clinic Kandy was recognized for its strong training programs, innovative outreach initiatives, and improved access to services through condom dispensers at key public locations. The Red Cross Society Implementation Center was noted for its strategic location and valuable community support in reducing stigma and improving patient adherence.

While these achievements are noteworthy, the team also observed certain gaps such as resource limitations, equipment challenges, and staffing constraints in the District STD Clinic as well as the Red Cross Society. These areas will require further attention to ensure sustainability and continued improvement of services.
